I worked 16 hours straight last night at the shelter. Everything is going fine right now. We’ve been getting the hardest cases and people with mental or physical disabilities. Tomorrow we are expecting 500+ people to come into K-town. The majority will go to the civic coliseum, the rest to me.
There has been a small power play coming my way from a psycho nurse that they happened to also make shelter manager. She likes to argue with everything that I say. You all know how that went for her. I had to smack her down this morning in front of the bosses. I wanted more women than men to work the shelter due to the fact that sometimes we are alone with the evacuees, and that I don’t want there to be any thoughts of liability due to impropriety. She didn’t see it my way and spent the whole night trying to dis-include me from command. Thanks to Sun Tzu I waited for higher ground. She won’t be back for the rest of the week to my knowledge.
I have no idea why there has to be politics and power plays at a time like this. It’s a pain in the ass for sure.
