It all Began…

With an admiration for a friends iphone. It was cool, but I was happy with my Samsung Blackjack. Until my friend decided to upgrade his iphone to the 3G model and decided to give me his older 2G iphone. Then I got hooked, I have never loved a phone before, but I would have sex with an iphone if I could. I love it. I got one for my wife too, she loves hers.

The main reason I fell in love with the iphone, was all of the apps that people created for the it. It was almost like my beloved open-source world. These apps aren’t open source, but they are close, you can find some really neat and useful apps that are free for the taking. Some cost a dollar or more, and I don’t mind paying for the really cool ones.

Then I came up with a few apps myself, or at least the idea for the apps. Luckily I have another friend who is hip deep in the Mac world and wants to make his own apps too. He has the know-how and some good ideas of his own. So, we talked.

When it came down to the nuts and bolts of it all, I needed to learn how to code for the apps myself also. I haven’t coded anything in over 10 years and I sucked at it back then. But the race is on!

Most of you remember all of the stories of how people were becoming gazillionaires back in the early 90’s. Well, it’s kinda like that right now again. Simple web-apps, mobile apps and cloud computing is the future of our computer driven world. People are making some serious cash now. Regular people. People that have a good idea and put it out there. Hopefully like me.

So my friend, we’ll call him “V” for vendetta, gave me a book that was literally hot of the presses from MacWorld on iphone application development. It’s a good book, well written and new enough to have most of the changes that are happening. Another friend, we’ll call him “S” for Steve agreed to sell me his Macbook so I could learn to code for the iphone. It’s necessary since the SDK (emulator) for the iphone works on it. It’s nice and tricked out, plus it’s black. Black rocks! White sucks!

So, now I have the tools. Now I need to buckle down. Now I need to put something out there. Anything. Something free. Something small.

Anywhooo, I decided I might just blog this as I go along. From zero to whenever. If you don’t hear from me in the next little while, you know what I’m doing. Give me a buzz for an update.
